Planning camping foods is very important because good food camping trip may not be a success. To really enjoy camping trip make plans ahead. Take a list of the number of people and the number of meals you will need.

 Protein rich food like cheese, eggs, fish, beans etc. is advisable. But if you are going to carry the food then the weight must be given the first consideration. As you will be carrying the camping clothes, and bed also it is important that the food you carry is light. Commercial freeze-dried camping foods are available. But they can be expensive, may not be sufficient, and are also rich in salt. So it is not wise to fully depend on these ready made camping foods.

Hot cereals like oat meals and other cereals available in the market are light. You can buy in bulk which will be cheaper and you can take small quantities for each meal, add sugar and dried milk to it and pack it in zipped bags for each camper. This is cheaper as well as lighter. Cold cereals are also available for which you can add cold water and powdered milk.

If your camping style is cabin camping then you will have all the comforts of home. So you need not worry about weight. But if the camping site you are going is expensive take a lot of food stuff with you. But it is important that you should not get stomach upset which will spoil your camping.

Camping foods can be rich or simple. It depends upon many factors like number of days, the style of camping, camping site etc. But always remember that the number of days of camping may be less or more. Whatever it is you are going to return to your sweet home after the camp where you can have all your favorite food. Practicability and weight are the major factors to be considered before packing camping foods.
